Help Us Remember Dawn Marie Adamson

Dawn M. Adamson (nee Schwalm), age 46, of Granite Falls, NC and formerly of Stow, OH, died tragically in a single car accident in Montana while traveling with the Wounded Warrior Project.

During her short time in Montana, she fell in love with the land.  She drove 150 miles to the airport in Montana to pick up a rental car so she could explore and hopefully find a property where she could soon call home.  Unfortunately, Dawn never returned to Camp Patriot.  A little past midnight on August 14th,  on a winding gravel road, she misjudged a sharp curve and drove off a steep embankment.  She died on impact.

Dawn leaves behind two sons and an infant grandson, and many family members and friends who are devastated by this loss.   She became a grandma in June and was so proud and bursting with joy.

Soon after graduating from Stow High School in 1989, she joined the U.S. Army and served her country in Operations Desert Storm and Desert Shield  and again in Afghanistan as a member of the West Virginia National Guard after 9/11.

Dawn lived life to the fullest.  She was passionate about veterans’ issues and her faith – and she loved to sing in the church choir (and the car, the grocery store, the shower - just about everywhere!).  Her favorite hobby was photography.  Whether she was taking pictures of people or landscapes, she had an eye for capturing the moment.

All of her life, she was patient, kind, and giving.  Even after her passing, she was able to give someone the gift of sight as a cornea donor.  Everyone always said she had the most beautiful eyes.

Dawn’s sense of humor was witty and oftentimes hysterical.  She could bring a person to tears of laughter, even on their worst day!

Her loving heart will be remembered and missed by all who knew her.

Dawn's sons, both in their early 20's, need help paying for their mother's final arrangements.  The flight alone to bring her back home to Ohio was over $3200, and they still need help to pay for the funeral and other final expenses.

Stephanie Rafferty, Dawn's oldest niece, has set up this GoFundMe and will be responsible for making sure the funds are allocated to them.
