HELP US KEEP OUR COOL
For the last year, the Canton Historical Society has been upgrading our 'new to us' 1897 Grange building (PoH #110). We held a Grand Opening on July 7th with great fan fair. This is the first time our collection has been open to the public in many years!
Part of our collection is in a beautiful, large open room we call the Hayford Hall. We have had several presentations, which are free and open to the public. We are starting to rent the space for private functions. The rental income will help the Historical Society keep the building open year round for all sorts of community events.
At a recent function, it was very clear the building needs to have Air Conditioning installed. Community members attending the presentation sweltered in the summer heat even with fans running and a breeze blowing.
Society members recognized the inherent difficulty of renting out to wedding receptions, baby showers, birthday parties and corporate events if the building is simply too hot.
Just as important is the need to keep our collection and archives in a controlled environment. The treasures we are now displaying need to be protected not only from the cold of winter, but the heat of summer too!
The Canton Historical Society continues to create a meeting place and cultural hub for the community. We preserve and share our collection presenting not only exhibits, but programs.
Your donation will help keep the collection safe and open up opportunities for us to rent our space. When we rent the space, it provides us with more operating capital we reinvest into the Society.
Our HVAC contractor plans on starting the replacement of our heating system towards the end of this month. We have the funding for the heating system from a generous donation. The contractor can do the AC system at the same time if we can raise the money.
Will you help us reach our goal so we can Keep Our Cool?
