In Model United Nations, delegates from schools across the nation gather to debate solutions to pressing global issues. Every year, we send our delegates to eight conferences, and host our own in the San Francisco Financial District. Our conference is attended by 500 students from top schools from across the nation. Besides learning to conduct hours of policy research, lobby those with opposing views, draft creative resolutions, lead a team, and hone your public speaking skills, MUN allows students to network with other students on the circuit, many of whom become lifelong friends.
UCBMUN (currently ranked 13th in the country) consistently places in the Top 20 MUN programs, and is one of the best programs on the West Coast. As one of the larger clubs on campus, our members hail from 21 countries, are pursuing 39 different majors, and speak 28 different languages. Our alumni go on to study at top graduate schools such as Oxford, the Harvard Kennedy School of Government and Columbia law, to work at companies like Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Microsoft, Lyft, Snapchat, or to conduct research at think tanks like the Brookings Institution.
Your donation will not only help us fund our own conference, but will also be an investment in our members’ travel fees, since we use all revenues from conference to subsidize traveling. Currently, members must pay out of pocket to travel, since school funding is very limited, which can deprive low-income students of the ability to compete. It can also hurt our standing, as we often compete against schools for whom travel is completely covered.
To continue our success and to make UCBMUN more accessible to students from all backgrounds, we need your help. By crowdfunding, we hope to help students continue developing their interest in international relations and their skills in public speaking, research, and advocacy. Every donation goes a long way toward helping our delegates compete.
