Help Us Avoid Poverty

My name is Emilie.  I'm a trans woman writer who has been building my career over the last year and a half, working full time on various projects.  In the last two years, my partners and I have experienced a series of challenges that has left us struggling to keep up with our rent, despite wanting nothing more than to work, grow, and make a stable home for ourselves. 

What we are looking for:

--$1500 for Deposits, first month rent, fees
--$500 for moving costs including gas, truck rental, and moving supplies
--$2000 for rent while we establish ourselves
--$1000 for safety funds (specifically for medication.  If we need to move to a different state, for example, we will lose our coverage that we have here, and since we're all trans...well, medicine is ridiculously expensive here without coverage.

Our Story:

At the beginning of this year, we were forced to vacate a hostile living situation with almost no notice, in the middle of winter.  Despite working long h
ours for multiple freelance clients, I was unable to make more than the bare minimum needed to make our bills.  Since then, the writing market has been unstable to say the least, but I have established a number of good relations with my clients and am able to earn a certain amount of income despite work being scarce for writers at the moment. 

I am seeking full-time employment (working for a single client,) ideally in writing, anywhere I can, but I have also sought work in other fields to make ends meet.  While I currently work full-time, it's spread across multiple clients, and gets taxed to kingdom come. 

I do not want to give up my dream of writing, especially when I am growing closer and closer to independent sustainability each day.  I studied writing for most of my life, and even earned numerous writing based grants for college, but despite this, earning an income writing is difficult in the current market.

My two partners have each been doing their best to help supplement our income.  One of my partners is currently pending disability while my other partner is forging her career as an artist.  While disability for my partner who cannot work would certainly help the situation, the application process is lengthy and involves transportation, communication, and time.  We still need to have money for rent and basic needs for the next two to three months. 

Our goal with this fundraiser is to avoid falling into homelessness and a cycle of poverty that will be especially difficult to break going into the winter months.  We just want to live peacefully and pursue our work, but we need some room to breathe financially.  We've been scrambling to make rent for months and we need that breathing room so we can stabilize at last.
