Help Turn My Passion into Education -- With your Support, I can Realize My Goal of Becoming a Certified Nutritional Therapy Practitioner!
Friends, so many of you know me as Minnie Tonka, burlesque performer, instructor, and pastie maker. Many of you also know that I have an autoimmune disease, seronegative rheumatoid arthritis, and have been living with chronic pain and fatigue for years.
For the past few years I’ve worked hard to heal my body by eating healthy food, practicing yoga, and cloaking myself in positive affirmations. This has proven to be an effective, powerful combination. As a part of my healing, over four years ago, I changed my diet to help with inflammation (a hallmark of rheumatoid arthritis) and my health. As I connected the food I ate to changes in myself, the more interested I was in learning about the healing properties of food. Cooking, baking, and learning about food and nutrition truly became my passion.
Through sharing my story (and photos of yummy homemade food on social media!) I’ve learned there's a need and desire for open communication around the links between diet, health and wellness. Significantly, there is also a great need for educated practitioners, and that's my goal. I have been accepted into a program offered by the Nutritional Therapy Association, a 9-month, online, course that includes intensive, in-person workshops, http://nutritionaltherapy.com. The program begins February 13. By the conclusion of the program, I will become a certified Nutritional Therapy Practitioner which will enable me to use my knowledge and education to help other people by fostering awareness and understanding regarding the relationship between what we eat and how we feel.
What I love about this program is that they address nutrition from a holistic perspective. There is no perfect diet for everyone. As a Nutritional Therapist I will be trained to help people find the right types of whole foods that will restore balance and enhance their ability to walk down the hallway of life towards perfect health. Pursuit of this knowledge is what drives me -- but to get there, I need your help. The tuition for my program is $5,400. Any financial support you can give me will help me realize my dream...which will ultimately help me make our community healthier and happier!
