Help Trish Dempsey

Donation protected
Trish Dempsey, senior, warrior, mentor, friend, activist, mother and grandmother, and survivor of many debilitating and incurable illnesses, has been Scammed, Defrauded, Lied to, and Ripped off!

Several of Trish's best friends, family members and admirers have started this GoFundMe page on behalf of Trish. You know she would never ask for help, but you also know she is always the first one to assist any way she can, despite being disabled. She’s a senior who, despite being frail, has never lost her fire despite being a survivor of many debilitating and incurable illnesses. I’ve never met someone as generous, smart, funny, warm, and supportive! We love Trish dearly! Now Trish desperately needs Our help! It's only a minimum $5 donation! Read why below.

As many of you know, Trish has had major health issues. She went from an actress working 2 full-time jobs to being disabled and unable to work. Social Security is now her only form of income. Trish has been a friend to so many; now all she needs is Our Help! The details of how this frail elderly woman was scammed and defrauded follow.

A little over 2 years ago, Trish got behind on her HOA payments due to medical bills. She only owed $400 and she was paying extra each month to catch up. However, the HOA didn’t accept this solution, got their attorneys involved, and filed foreclosure proceedings. The attorney’s fees added up to $4,000. Terrified, she went to Legal Aide.

Legal Aide turned her over to a pro bono law firm and those attorneys put her into a Chapter 13. Trish was put into a payment plan over a 60-month period to pay back the $4,000. Of course, she had to continue paying all her regular monthly bills. Due to her minimal income, her attorneys strongly recommended that Trish apply for a modification to her mortgage loan, which would reduce her monthly payments and make it easier for her to make the court payments. She followed this advice on good faith, which turned out to be a disaster.

Neither the mortgage company nor her attorneys advised her of the fees attached to the modification. Plus, they set up the modification and attached the mortgage to her Chapter 13 and to top it all off, they calculated the Wrong Payment for her mortgage! Trish made all of her payments diligently, trusting that her attorneys were looking out for her. 14 months later, Trish received notice that her modification had been approved. Trish was shocked and almost had a stroke when she saw the attached fees of $8,000!! She immediately called and asked her attorneys why she hadn’t been informed of the fees before. Her attorneys responded by saying that it was the first time they had heard about it.

Her attorneys presented the modification plan for her to sign but when Trish complained about the $8,000 in fees, the attorney told her she wasn't obliged to sign it, so she didn’t.
However, since the attorneys calculated the mortgage payment wrong, she is now in arrears with the mortgage company! The Chapter 13 is keeping her out of foreclosure, but now her mortgage has been increased to $827 a month! Her income is only $1161 a month!
In the last couple of months, Trish has taken several bad falls, breaking her wrist, tailbone, and baby toe. Then Tropical Storm Emily came through ripping off her roof, back stairs and causing a lot of internal water damage. Trish is forced to live in a tiny room with her cats, their food, water, and litter box for going on Four Months now, while repairs are being done. Psychologically, she was able to handle this until her air conditioner stopped cooling the first week when the new roof was being installed. She called “Joe’s Air Conditioner and Appliance Repair”. After looking at the unit, Joe told Trish that the previous contractors had set up her unit to fry and told her to never call them again. Right after he left, the unit stopped working completely, then her power went out! Luckily Trish knew some electricians in her community and they came out to check the situation, and were able to determine that Joe the AC guy had caused her power to go out and completely FRY her A/C unit!

Trish obviously doesn’t have the money for a $4,000 unit. She has been selling her furniture, books, and items that she’s collected over her lifetime, to pay the extra mortgage. Trish is frail and must use a wheelchair to get around. She has many health problems including COPD, is on oxygen, has a 4.5cm aneurysm on her heart, severe cases of Rheumatoid Disease, Osteoporosis, Psoriatic Arthritis, Lupus, Fibromyalgia, Sjogren’s syndrome, Fuchs Dystrophy, and has had 6 operations on her spine. She is being held together by Harrington rods, nuts, bolts, screws, pins, metal plates, and bone grafts. Trish has shrunk 6 inches in height but the metal in her body hasn’t, which causes additional problems and extensive pain for her.

I know that with the hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, and other disasters, you have donated your hearts out. I understand. What I am asking is that you donate just $5 to someone you know and
care about personally.

All Trish wants to do is sell her house and buy a small mobile home with working AC. But she CANNOT sell her house without working air conditioning. Trish has almost 3,000 friends on her Facebook page, so all we are asking is for is at least a $5 donation from the people who care about her. If we can meet our goal, Trish will be able to meet her goal and live out the rest of her life in peace
