Help the Man Who Always Helps Others- MICHAEL DUVA

Donation protected
When you think of Danbury in the 1950’s, you immediately recall The Danbury Fair, the Uncle Sam statue that was recently brought back to Danbury, and the Moffa Hot Dogs stand—a local, well-known family institution on Mill Plain Road owned by brothers Carmine, Louis and Joseph Moffa. Sadly, Joseph passed in 2011. He lived with his beloved wife, Vi, in Danbury, where they raised a family and where she still resides.

His daughter, Lena Moffa, would eventually marry her high school sweetheart, Michael Duva, also of Danbury, where they too reside with their son Troy, a recent graduate of Danbury High School, who is also autistic.

The discussion of perhaps re-establishing the family business was a pipe dream that always came up over the years, but a dream nonetheless for Lena and Mike. With work and family responsibilities however, it never went beyond an occasional discussion. Recently, however, they considered perhaps giving it a go and including their son Troy to continue in the family business.

Lena has worked locally in banking for years and for the past 8 years at REI Property Management in Danbury where her son Troy is now also employed.

Mike worked in construction for many years and for the past 24 years at Stop n Shop on Newtown Road in Danbury. Mike is well known and loved by his coworkers and customers alike. Recently, while on meds for a misdiagnosed virus, he experienced breathing difficulties and was rushed to Danbury Hospital where he was admitted. Mike was subsequently diagnosed with Stage 4 lymphoma and is currently receiving chemotherapy. If you know Mike, then you know he will face this with the same strength, determination, faith in God and humor he demonstrates every day.

Lena and Mike wish to thank everyone for the prayers, love and support from family and friends, her REI family, his Stop n Shop co-workers, and the many customers whom have learned of his recent illness and have also reached out.

Mike has a very long struggle ahead. The strong, dependable, devoted family man who ALWAYS helped others at work, in his community, and is devoted to his mom-in-law, especially since her husband’s passing, now needs your help. Your donations will help offset the mounting medical bills typically not covered by insurance for cancer treatment.

We thank you in advance for your generosity and continued prayers.
