Help the Furies get to Nationals!
After months of working, training, and taking on the toughest competition in the region, the DC Furies have secured a spot in the 2018 Club 7s National Championships this August!
It takes more than just hard work to get to Nationals, though. It also takes money for travel, lodging, and food -- costs that can really add up, especially after a season of travel to qualifying matches.
USA Rugby just announced that New York City will host this year's championships. We'll keep putting in the work on the rugby pitch, but we need your help to get us there! Can you help us defray the costs for our players to get to Nationals, so we can make sure we're ready and able to play with Furies pride and kick some butt this August?
WHO WE ARE:
The Washington Women's Rugby Football Club, aka the DC Furies, is one of the oldest women's rugby clubs in the country. Founded in 1978, we are a 501c3 organization with the goal of providing competitive and social rugby in the DC metropolitan area. Learn more about us: www.dcfuries.com
WHAT THIS SEASON MEANS FOR US:
This summer, we placed in the top 3 for all three Mid Atlantic Conference (MAC) qualifier tournaments. In the final qualifier on July 14 in Philadelphia, we took home first place, beating the 2016 national champions from the Scion Rugby Academy!
The Furies competed in the inaugural 7s Nationals in 2011, and again for three years after. This is our first time returning to 7s Nationals since 2014, and we are ready to blow the doors off the hinges once we get there. This season's success is a testament to our leadership, our program, and the incredible dedication of all our players.
