Help the Bolivia 2018 Rover Team

Hello everyone! First all all, I would like to thank you for taking the time to read this. My name is Juan Poma. I live in Huntsville, AL and I am reaching out to you for your help. Six months ago, I met a group of Bolivian teenagers whose goal is to come to the 2018 NASA Human Exploration Rover Challenge Competition in Huntsville, AL. Teams from all over the world, have to build their unique buggy car for two people, assemble, and pedal it on the day of the competition.

Coming to the U.S. to compete is a challenge, due to the fact that in Bolivia, the majority of the population do not encourage young kids to follow STEM careers. It makes crowdfunding a challenge. Because of this, I decided to join their team and help them in any way I can. Recently, we have convinced the Bolivian Embassy to help us Co-Host an event in Washington D.C. where we can encourage hispanic kids to follow STEM careers and also explain our project to the community.  There will be Boeing Engineers and members from The Society of Professional Hispanic Engineers who are going to talk about their careers. The Bolivian embsassy will also be inviting Facebook and Google to attend the event.

This is the flyer for the event.

Our main goal in this event is to get people to know about us and our project. By documenting this activity, it will provide us material to show to potential sponsors. From the U.S., I will visit local companies and ask for any type of help. The kids will be doing the same from Bolivia, they will knock door by door to ask for funding.

Because of time constraint, we are having a hard time finding companies who are willing to help us for this event. We only ask for economical help to bring one person from the team in La Paz, Bolivia to present at the Bolivia Embassy in Washington D.C. on July 9th. We do not have funding for the flight ticket, food, and hotel expenses of the presenter.

One of our team members came to this year's competition with an international team, her name is Alina Santander. She is now the team lead for these kids. Her dream has always been to come compete with a Bolivian team.
She has had some interviews where she talks about the project and I would like to share those links with you as well. I'd like to apologize in advance for the videos are in spanish.
