Help Teach With Bravery

I wrote a book! It's called Teaching With Bravery: Meditation and Heart Advice for Teachers.  It's a guidebook for educators, and anyone else who works with children or young people, on how to bring deep meaning into your work, and how to journey on the inner path of teaching. 

The book has 5 parts: Teaching Like a Human Being, which is about discovering basic goodness; Teaching Like a Mountain, which is about mindfulness and meditation; Teaching Like a River, which is about kindness and relationship;  Teaching Like the Sun, which is about bravery; and Touching the Earth, which is about the Education of the Warrior.  Overall, it's meant to be a short, beautiful, provocative, and practical exploration of how to transform education from the inside out.  I hope it will be a meaningful contribution to the field of contemplative education in general, and Shambhala education in particular.  I think that teachers, youth workers, parents, meditators, and activists will all enjoy this book. 

After exploring various avenues for publication, I've decided to work with Archway Publishing, which is a division of Simon and Schuster.  Archway is a hybrid publisher, meaning the author provides the up front costs of publication.  Then Archway provides the editorial, design,  production and distribution work.  So I'm crowdfunding for these initial costs, but also to start getting the word out.  Please support me if you're interested in reading this book, would like to give it to someone you know, or just think it should exist.  Any contributions are so appreciated.  Donors of $50 or more will receive a signed copy of Teaching With Bravery.  

I'm Noel, the author. I've been a middle and high school classroom teacher for 14 years.  I'm also a second generation Shambhala Buddhist, and an acharya or "honoured teacher" in the Shambhala tradition.   I have two young children and live in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
