Hi Everyone!
My name is Sydney Neely and I was recently accepted into the Columbia Journalism School for the fall of 2017. When I opened the acceptance email, I cried because I worried and prayed for months that I would get in. However, I was quickly overwhelmed when I read the financial aid eligibility email and found out that I would not receive any financial assistance. I've always wanted to attend Columbia and the burden of the tuition would be solely on me.

I graduated early with magna cum laude from the University of Memphis in December 2016 and immediately applied for my dream school, Columbia.
I worked hard throughout my undergraduate studies to get into Columbia. I worked as a reporter for the 2016 Olympics, The Commercial Appeal, and The Daily Helmsman. I interned at WMC Action News 5 in Memphis, TN, and at the National Association of Television Program Executives in Miami, FL.
I beat other applicants from around the world to get into the top journalism program in the country. I am still in disbelief. I hate to ask for help, but I know that I need it. I will be extremely grateful for any contribution that would allow me to attend my dream school. I will continue to pray every day for a miracle. Thank you.
