Help Swim Help the Children!

Donation protected
My name is Keith D. Swim, Jr. and I am professor at Mays Business School at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. My students in MGMT 209 and MGMT 211 conduct a Toy Drive  called Help Swim Help the Children each year.  We begin this Toy Drive about November 1st of each year.  This started several years ago one of my former students was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor around Thanksgiving but before the Christmas/Holiday break.  She was a single mother with two children, one of which was mentally disabled.  My students suggested that they could buy presents for her children.  My students delivered four (4) pickup trucks full of toys for her children.  When she received the toys, she felt that there was just too many gifts for her children and she gave most of them to her poor neighbors so that their children would have a nice Christmas. She died several years ago and I still think of this program as being for her.  Forthe last several years my students have continued her giving attitude by giving presents to local needy children through the Child Protective Services Office of Bryan, Texas. Last year we collected presents for 211 children.  These children have been taken away from their parents due to some type of abuse.  Each child is allowed to pick three (3) presents that they would like to have by their social worker. The child’s clothing and shoe size is also given so that we can buy clothes and shoes for them as well. Their social workers give us the lists of presents and clothing/shoe sizes and we buy the gifts, wrap them, organize them by child and deliver the presents to the social workers who then take them to the children.  Our goal is to get every present on a child's list and to get them at least one new complete outfit of clothing and shoes.   My current and often former students take these lists and sign up to buy toys or clothing for a child.  They then go purchase the toy or clothing with their own money and deliver the present back to us. My students then organize the toys and clothing items by child and we deliver the presents to the social workers at Child Protective Services in Bryan, Texas, who then deliver the toys to the children for Christmas.

Your donation portion that we receive will be used 100% for the children.  My students will use your donations to buy presents and clothing that no one signed up to purchase or for items that were so expensive that an individual student could not afford that item.  If we receive enough funds, we can also contact Child Protective Services and get more children's lists.  Sadly, there is always more of a need than we can fulfill.  For instance, last year there were over 400 children that needed presents.

Remember, 100% of the money we receive from this Go Fund Me campaign will be used for the Toy Drive and ultimately go to these needy children.  We have no overhead expenses.  We work directly with the Children Protective Services Office in Bryan, Texas.  We will start this year's Toy Drive on November 1st and it will run until mid December.
