Help support Rodney's cancer battle

On Friday February 3rd 2017, our very close knit group of friends, received a devastating update on one of the most selfless, genuine, and loving individuals we have ever met. My heart skipped a beat as I read the message “Results show cancer”. The tumor is malignant and the cancer has spread from his arm into the lungs”. Our dear friend who had been trying to find out the reason why he had a constant cough for months that just would not go away, and upon x-raying, had uncovered several nodules inside of both lungs.
The answer to that question was “Alveolar soft-part sarcoma” which is a form of cancer I had never heard of. In fact, it is so rare, that less than one half of one percent of those with cancer, are ever diagnosed with this particular type. Regrettably, this is the diagnosis that one of my closest friends, Rodney Oliveira, just received.
Rodney is a devoted husband to Rachel and an amazing father to his young son Jackson. As a friend, Rodney is very loyal, giving, and a super funny guy that is guaranteed to bring a smile to your face. He is infamous for his impersonations and Rodney has always put himself last, in an effort to make those around him happy. Rodney now needs our help and we want to make sure we help get him and his family the support they need.
Due to the rarity of this type of cancer, treatment options are very limited and most come in the form of clinical trials, which traditional medical plans don't cover, or cover very little. This of course turns into a financial burden, which is the last thing he and his family need to worry about right now. Our goal is to help take some of the pressure off.
Support comes in many shapes and sizes and certainly does not have to be monetary. Even if you can't donate, please share this with your family and friends. Most of all, keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers. Rodney's commitment to Family & Friends is so important to him, and Rodney is very important to all of us.
