Women in Innovation and Leadership (WIL) is an ambitious emerging organization led by a team of students from Leiden University College in The Hague.
Founded in April 2018, Women in Innovation and Leadership takes its roots in a struggle often faced by students and young adults: the increasing competition of the professional world.
We, as young adults, strongly believed there are many professional opportunities for hardworking and dedicated students and young professionals like us to enter the professional world. However, we have come to realize that, often, the professional realm seems out of reach for students, and particularly for women.
Thus we have decided to take action. Since April, we have been relentlessly working on WIL, a professional collaborative network striving to promote gender equality in leadership positions. Through the empowerment and collaboration of ambitious men and women, we seek to achieve gender equality in leadership positions and increase opportunities for young adults in the workplace. To reach our goals, we work to encourage connections between creative minds, through improved networking and the development of career skills.
We now have a team of six board members and a group of twenty-two active members working very hard to develop this project and support our cause. We are further being supported by external organizations and individuals, which are being proven very valuable to our rapid development.
To reach our goals and have a concrete impact, we are required to be legally registered as a foundation and be officially declared as a “stichting” (Dutch for “foundation”). In order for this to happen, we first need to register with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce through a civil-law notary. This process and the associated administrative costs of this are very high, and as an emerging foundation, we are currently unable to afford them.
This is where your support would be truly meaningful to us and our cause. No matter how much you donate, you will be supporting an organization which genuinely strives to make a difference in how the professional and student world interact, as well as the way women are perceived and approached in the work field. You will be a valuable actor in the empowerment of future leaders, innovators and entrepreneurs.
Supporting this cause would not only help us tackle a problem faced in our situation, but it would be a kick off to tackle a problem faced worldwide. We hope our small steps will turn into bigger projects, which could have a ripple effect on the years to come.
