Help Support Denise Barnby

For the past month, Denise has not been feeling well with an on and off fever, extreme fatigue and wanting to sleep all the time. On Tuesday morning (November 13th) her loving fiancé and close friends urged her to go in to get checked out. Her world was turned upside down from there on when she learned she had low iron, her hemoglobin was at a 7 and she had low blood count. They continued to test her and discovered swollen lymph nodes in her neck, underarms, and groin area. The doctors thought this might be cancer. On Thursday, they confirmed her worst fear, non-Hodgkin lymphoma. They started working with an oncologist, took a lymph node out for biopsy and also did a spinal tap to test her bone marrow. This was the process to find out what stage it is and the exact type of lymphoma. Friday, she underwent a blood transfusion for her low hemoglobin and she got the news the cancer is also in her bones. On Monday, she will undergo another test to see if it has spread to any of her organs and Tuesday she will start chemotherapy and the fight begins. I work with Denise at the Hideaway in Vicksburg, MI, she is not just a co-worker, she is a friend, mother and soon to be wife. She’s my “work wife.” She’s one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met and has such a kind heart and would do anything to help someone out. She’s the one going around the hugging everyone when she sees them, like she hasn’t seen them in weeks but it’s only been a day. She’s a lover and she needs our love right now. The holidays are coming up and she will be off work and going through her cancer treatment and we want her to focus on her treatment and healing instead of worrying about not being able to afford her monthly bills or not having money to give her kids a Christmas.
