Fatime and Samer escaped from Northern Syria with their two daughters after Samer was held by the Syrian government and tortured for five months resulting in him losing most use of one hand. They lived in a refugee camp in Jordan while applying for US visas and have been resettled in Clarkston, Georgia.

They have two young daughters (13 and under) and one on the way. Fatime is 5 months pregnant and unable to work outside the home. Samer currently has a warehouse job that requires him to use his injured hand resulting in consequences when performance is not up to par.

Samer's income barely covers rent each month and due to a clerical issue, their SNAP payments have been discontinued. While we help Samer find a better job, we are looking for help with their rent and food costs.

My name is Leah Fuhr and I'm part of a group of concerned residents in the metro-Atlanta area. My family fled persecution over 100 years ago and were welcomed in America. Now I get to pay it forward. The funds will be used to help pay for their rent, food and other bills like electric.  The family's close friend, Alexandra Toren, will be withdrawing the funds and paying their bills directly.
