Help Stubbsy

When you ask someone what Wayne Stubbs does, you’ll hear comments like “he helps others”, “he cares about others” and “he goes out of his way to make his community a better place”.
And all of these things couldn’t be more true.
A firefighter of more than 12 years, Wayne - lovingly known as Stubbsy - has given countless hours to his home town of Katherine, helping those in need, providing peer support to fellow firefighters, teaching and mentoring the younger generation, and going the extra mile to give a helping hand.
But now the father-of-four needs help himself.

In November 2018 Stubbsy was diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer that has spread to his liver.
“They tell me when it’s at this stage there is no cure but I’m going to fight this bastard,” he said.
Supporting fundraising campaigns for those less fortunate, the captain of the Katherine fire station has helped raise thousands of dollars for families in need across the Katherine region, and despite battling cancer, Stubbsy spent the days leading up to Christmas 2018 visiting children in and around Katherine dressed as Santa - like he has done so many times before - to bring joy and Christmas cheer to the community and put smiles on hundreds of little faces.

Pillars of their community, Stubbsy’s wife Lee-anne has been a volunteer with St John Ambulance for years, daughter Bianca is a Triple-Zero calltaker at the Emergency Communications Centre in Darwin and even Stubbsy’s ten-year-old son Brodie is already heavily involved with St John Ambulance cadets - following in his dad’s footsteps when it comes to helping others.

Since November, three rounds of chemo and increasing medical expenses have taken a toll on the family who has given so much to the people in the Northern Territory - and it’s time for the NT to get together and help the man who has helped so many.
Please donate to help Stubbsy, Lee-anne, Bianca, Brodie, Sinead and Braeden in this terrible time and please share the message to show your support for the family.

“To all my friends and family - I love you all very much and I want to thank you for all the love and support that myself and my family have received. We are just truely blessed to have wonderful people in our lives.”
From all your friends and family - we love you Stubbsy and we’re so very blessed to have you in our lives. You’re not fighting this bastard on your own - we’re here for you.
Ohh Ahh.
