Help STOAPF with Ongoing Expenses

Donation protected
It takes funds to lead a fight.

The Old Atlanta Prison Farm property is a beautiful green space jewel located just outside of Atlanta city limits, very close to East Atlanta in Southwest DeKalb County. This land has been neglected and abused, harboring a variety of problems like tire fires and illegal dumping.

We formed Save The Old Atlanta Prison Farm (STOAPF) to bring attention to and resolve these issues.

As part of our ongoing efforts to protect this land and promote the cause, we have some expenses. We're asking our supporters to throw a few bucks towards the following costs:

Atlanta Police Foundation military complex / country club

As many of you know, Atlanta Police Foundation is determined to force their will upon our community. They want to take the Old Prison Farm for their own purposes with total disregard for the expressed needs and desires of the people around them. Recently, Mayor Bottoms announced her support for this outrageous proposal. We need funds to strategically fight to protect our beloved Old Prison Farm land, a public property.

Dedicated reporting

We're seeking a few journalists or journalism students to investigate and shed further light on the corruption around this issue. Given the situation so far, there is likely more to uncover, and we want to get to the bottom of this with professional help.

Ongoing trail maintenance

Some of the paths on the property need annual trimming in order to ensure they will not be overgrown next year. We'd like to be able to fairly compensate some workers to help us, as volunteers for this activity are coming up short.

Neighborhood security

In light of recent events (specifically, two of our friends being harassed/threatened by local business owners), we'd like to temporarily hire a private duty police officer to make rounds in the surrounding areas. Previously, we've done the same thing at Constitution Lakes with success. It would help discourage criminal activity and give us increased confidence that our neighborhood is safe.

Ongoing outreach

We periodically put out promotional material to increase public awareness of the cause. This includes limited runs of online advertisements and promotional flyers that we distribute in nearby neighborhoods. We also occasionally host promotional events like picnics and live music. While these items are not expensive, they aren't free, so we're asking for a helping hand. Help support the South River Park vision we share with Ryan Gravel and South River Watershed Alliance.

We see the damage that has already been done. We can't afford to keep destroying the one and only planet we have. We ask you to chip in with 10, 20, or 50 dollars to help us take the fight forward. It's not too late to take a stand, and your help is needed! When we take a stand, we win!

We hope that you can help us continue to push for a great regional park in this under-served area of Southwest DeKalb County. Every bit counts – no amount is too small! As always, we thank you for your consideration and support.
