My brother Sony needs your help. He’s a husband, father of two beautiful children, and an Iraq war vet. In 2003, while serving in Iraq, my brother became ill. He spent over a month in a hospital in Iraq before being stationed in Germany to finish out his tour. There he met a wonderful German girl who would later become his wife. Since that time, they’ve come back to the states, started a life together, raised two wonderful children and somehow managed to push through Sony’s medical problems.
Over the past 15 years however, Sony’s health has not improved. To date he has less than 10% function of his kidneys. He’s just one dreadful day away from dialysis. As a father myself, I couldn’t imagine what my children’s lives would be like without me in them. That is the nightmare my brother faces each day.
We need help. The doctors say because of how young he is, a living donor is his best option for a long, fruitful life. A middle-aged donor is proving to be very difficult to find. Our battle is on two fronts. First, is finding a donor. Second, is the financial impact. With a lack of faith in the VA, they’ve taken to using their insurance to make this happen. The great news is that most of the cost of the procedure will be covered, however the costs associated with the recovery will not.
When my brother finds a donor (God willing), both he and his donor will be out of work for some time. The financial impact for both families will be huge. We’re trying to raise money to help the donor and my brother’s family get through the recovery with little to no impact on their lives financially.
We’re believing God for a miracle in Sony’s life. If you feel led to help as a donor, please feel free to reach out to me personally.
