Hi everyone,
My name is Molly Krivit, for those who do not know me, I grew up in a small town, Roscoe, NY, where days were spent at the town pool and evenings were spent getting ice cream at the local ice cream shop (Sweet Tooth for those who are familiar). I spent those years with the same friends; a great group of friends; Sky Dutcher was one of them. She was different than many people I knew as she had more experiences in life than I did. Sky grew up on a farm with her father and grandmother, who raised her. She knew what work was, and she knew more about being a good friend than I did. We thought and talked a lot about life (topics changing as we got older, as I'm sure you can imagine) and learned about life throughout our entire friendship. We spent countless late nights (many all nighters that our parents never knew about :-) ) talking about what we were going to be when we were older, where we would be living, who we would end up spending our life with, what we were going to wear to school the next day (yes, that was always a topic of discussion). What we didn't discuss was the hardships our future could consist of such as bills, calories, breakups, and... cancer.
3 months ago, at the age of 24, Sky- one of my closest friends, an athletic young girl with her whole future ahead of her, was diagnosed with Synovial Sarcoma, one of the rarest cancers effecting the joints of the arm, neck or leg. One in a million (1:1,000,000) people are diagnosed with this cancer in the world. As many of you reading this probably know, the cost of having cancer is not cheap. Sky is struggling to pay for uncovered medications, medical bills, doctor’s appointments that are out of her insurance network (but, is required to go to, because only certain doctors work with this type of cancer, or have knowledge of it), travel (as these doctors are in many locations, some very far), and hotel expenses during travel. She has limited chances to work anymore, which is unfortunate, because Sky enjoys working in the health field, and helping people.
I am asking for donations, because I don’t want to lose my friend. Let’s not let cancer win this battle. All and any donations are more than appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
