HELP ASPOLT RESTORE BLOCK 3 OF FORT LAUDREFANG

Volunteers from the the ASPOLT organization out of Faulquemont, France have been working to restore Block 3 of Fort Laudrefang for over 10 years now. The group is dedicated to keeping the history of the fort while maintaining and recovering original pieces to restore it back to working order. They have completed about 80% of work that needs to be done to restore this piece of French history. Their goal is to finish before the 80th anniversary of the armistice next year and it would be amazing if we could make that happen!
History of the fort: Laudrefang is a one of five forts of the Maginot Line located in the Fortified Sector of Faulquemont. The fort consists of five infantry blocks, and is located between Forts Einseling and Teting, facing Germany. With a heavy armament, it successfully defended its neighbors against German attack during the Battle of France. Laudrefang was heavily damaged by German bombardment in 1940. It survived until the Second Armistice at Compiègne which took effect on 25 June. Despite the armistice, the Fort only surrendered on 2 July. This particular fort was not chosen for renovation after WW2 so the fort was left abandoned and flooded for a number of years.
By donating to the cause, your money will go towards the purchase of tools, paint, and electrical implementation for the restoration of Block 3 located in the fort. Also, one of the most important parts of the restoration will be the manufacturing of engine parts for the rebuilding of the power generator. At this time, the rest of Fort Laudrefang is under the control of the French Army and unable to be restored.
