Help Shepherd Jake Get Training!

Jake's life took a very traumatic turn when he was taken from his home by Animal Control late last year. He is an extra large German Shepherd who, in his previous home, had only gone out on one walk and had not been socialized with other dogs. He never learned manners or any basic obedience. The neighbors complained about him and his owners were forced to surrender him.
Like many Shepherds, Jake is not a fan of uniforms and as he quickly learned; not a fan of catch poles either. This 110lb German Shepherd gave AC a battle when they went to get him that day. And it definitely traumatized him.
Once arriving to Downey he would soon come to hate being in a kennel as well. Throwing himself at the kennel got him an aggressive label. If it weren't for one amazing shelter volunteer: Desi Lara who befriended him and advocated for his life; I am certain his outcome would have been very different.
Delaney's Dog pulled Jake. We have boarded him for everyone's safety (despite his dislike of the kennel), took him to get neutered (which was another adventure) and we rode out the time it took for the testosterone to leave his body after the neuter. It paid off! Jake has calmed down considerably and now it is time to have the trainer work with him to assess his tolerance for other dogs including a potential adopter's adult male Shepherd.
We are raising money for Jake's training so that he can have his own happy ever after. He is a good dog. He just needs the right teacher. Luckily we have a great one for him!
