From small things big things grow...

My name is Shelly Westley and I live in Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia.  Like most people, I'm just surfing life's roller-coaster of waves whilst also living my dreams and sharing my passion to help others along their journey also...

Last year, following my eldest son losing two of his school mates to leukaemia, I was inspired to raise money and support for the Leukaemia Foundation of Australia.
So, In March 2016, I participated in the WORLD'S GREATEST SHAVE and I shaved off my long black hair with a razor at half time of the NTFL Grand Final at the TIO Stadium. Initially I set a goal to raise $5,000 but thanks to the love, support and generosity of the Darwin community and beyond, in just 7 weeks we raised over $28,600; being the highest fundraisers in the Northern Territory and second in Australia.

After realising the difference that you can make when you put yourself out there, I was inspired to continue my fundraising journey.  So, I signed up  for the Leukaemia Foundation Get Your Blood Pumping Mt. Kilimanjaro Challenge 2017.  In June 2017 I climbed the mighty Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa, the tallest free standing mountain in the world and raised a further $20,500+ for the Leukaemia Foundation to help our fellow 50,000+ Australians who face leukaemia today.

I would like to sincerely thank everyone for your support, kindness and generosity - it is amazing what we can achieve when we unite together as a community!  Thank you to all of those that donated to my GoFundMe appeal and literally helped me climb Mt Kilimanjaro - we were able to raise $6,210 of the $9,470 target.  What an amazing effort!  I will be forever grateful.  My dream to participate in the Challenge (whilst also helping the Leukaemia Foundation) came true because of you!  Special thanks to Carolyn Reynolds, Lake Bennett Wilderness Resort for your endless support, generosity and encouragement.

Following my recent Challenge, I am now even more inspired, determined and passionate to continue my journey to help in the fight against cancer. I have decided to embark upon an exciting journey, expanding 'Shelly's Climb for Cancer and Wall of Roses Appeal' and further develop my dream - 'Shelly's Quest for Cancer'.  It is my goal to participate in one exciting, amazing International Challenge each year over a five year period to raise a significant amount of money for Not for Profit cancer organisations throughout Australia.  I will continue to expand the 'Wall of Roses Appeal' whilst also increasing awareness and support of Cancer organisations within Australia in order to unite in the fight against cancer and to help the many Australian's that are touched by cancer every day.

I am am very excited to announce the next part of my journey for 'Shelly's Quest for Cancer'.

On the 2nd October 2018 I will embark upon a 12 day pilgrimage of the Camino de santiago, Spain as part of the 'World Walks for Cancer' in support of the Cancer Council NT.  Over the next 12 months I will be raising money for the Cancer Council NT to help them provide services and care to our fellow Territorians who are on their own personal cancer journeys.

It is my goal to raise $50,000 over the next 12 months for the Cancer Council NT.  I will be organising a number of fundraising initiatives to help with this as well as continuing to grow the 'Wall of Roses Appeal'.

I have set up this GoFundMe page for those people that would like to 'Help Shelly in her Quest for Cancer’.  Monies raised on this page with go towards covering the costs involved in participating in this ‘Conquer and Care’ and Cancer Council NT Challenge (including costs for the Travel Package, Airfares, Travel Insurance, Equipment etc, totalling over $5,000).  As a single mum of four children, every bit of kindness, generosity and support is greatly appreciated and makes a huge difference. Your donation will help me participate in this Challenge and to carry the Northern Territory flag on yet another international journey as part of ‘Shelly’s Quest for Cancer’; whilst also helping to raise awareness and support for the Cancer Council NT.

I will be setting up a Cancer Council webpage and direct link at for those people that would like to make a tax deductible donation to the Cancer Council NT (that of which every dollar raised stays in the Territory for Territorians) and will update you on those details in the very near future.
