TO BE OR NOT TO BE: Guild Festival Theatre Faces Uncertain Future

Guild Festival Theatre is a registered charity and not-for-profit organization, as well as Scarborough’s only professional theatre group. However, with its founding sponsor pulling its support coupled with poor weather and construction during last summer’s production, Guild Festival Theatre is seeking financial support in order to continue with its 2018 production. Approximately $35,000 is required to bring the professional theatre group back to Guild Park’s Greek Theatre this summer. As a personal, anonymous donation of $10,000 was presented directly to GFT shortly after this campaign began, our target has been updated to $25,000.

*The good news keeps coming! A corporate sponsor has donated $5,000 directly to Guild Festival Theatre. To reflect this donation, our GoFundMe goal will be adjusted to $20,000.  Thank you so much for your support!

Support will keep alive the performing arts legacy at the site of Canada’s original Guild of All Arts and provide cultural enrichment and entertainment to our community as well as the Toronto theatre scene. Contributions of any amount are greatly appreciated as every little bit helps! Tax receipts for donations of $25 and greater are available upon request (please see below) with all funds raised going directly to the Guild Festival Theatre.

This Go Fund Me campaign has been created on behalf of residents of Guildwood in hopes of keeping this summer tradition alive. Guild Festival Theatre has contributed to our community, bringing performing arts and culture to the Guild, for several years prior to the revitalization of the Inn. Please help us support GFT and keep this unique, live theatre experience in our community!
