Help Save Father Earth Organic Farm

Donation protected
My name is Frank Hodge.  I am the founder and owner of "Father Earth Organic Farm" in Lafayette Colorado.

In October of 2002, my girlfriend at that time, and I, purchased a home on a 2 acre horse property.  The following spring, I got a soil analysis from the CU extension and started a small 10' x 30' garden.  After two years, the garden expanded to nearly a quarter of an acre and I set up a farm stand at the house.  Over a 12 year period the garden grew to over one and a half acres.  Father Earth Organic Farm was established in 2009 in order to share great Organic produce with two farmers markets, Louisville and Lafayette, and a CSA farm share program hosting 20 to 30 members.  See more about the farm at www.fatherearthorganicfarm.com

My relationship with my former girlfriend changed in 2005, and in the past several years, I have looked  at buying out her share of the home, or selling the home and farm in order to satisfy what is owed to her.  Currently, we have agreed to sell the house and farm at the end of the growing season, which will be in the October to November timeframe.  In an effort to keep from selling my home and farm, A good friend suggested I try this method and so, here I am.

Over the 14 years I have lived here, I have transformed a horse property into a sustainably organic farm.  I have taught nearly 100 volunteers (ages 3 to 62 years old), the ways of growing food organically.  Several volunteers have gotten paying jobs at local farms based on what they have learned at my farm.  I have planted over 100 fruit trees, built 5 structures to enhance the growing options, set up an apiary of 7 beehives, and installed an underground watering system.  I would love to stay here on the farm and continue my passion of growing organic food for my community and teaching others to do the same.

The funds would be used to buy out the share of the house that my former girlfriend owns.  We both have agreed on this figure and I would hope to raise the funds by November 1, 2017.

Your support is very dear to me.  It means that you believe in me and in what I am doing here on the farm.  Even when we got hail on May 18th of this year, and then 8 inches of snow two days later, I still wanted to be here to care for the crops and trees that survived.  I am very passionate about the farm and what grows here.  I love what I do.

Your support is very much appreciated.  Many thanks.
