Help Save Bruno the Boxer

Meet Bruno, he is a 1.5 year old Boxer. Bruno was surrendered to a local animal shelter back in October of 2017 at just a year old. Bruno has lots of great qualities, and shows all the amusing and loving characteristics that a pure bred boxer can give you. Although his previous owner taught Bruno some of basic obedience commands like sit and shake, the owner didn’t do right by Bruno because he needs help in rehabilitating to deal with high anxiety he experiences in new surroundings and meeting new people. 
Bruno is excellent with other dogs of all sizes and loves to play ball and tug. His favorite sport is having fellow dogs chase him with a robust game of “keep away”. Bruno is vey respectful of cats, and is house broken, crate trained and has leash skills. Bruno is your all around athlete that makes him an active guy that loves to go for hikes and long walks.
Bruno does show signs of PTSD that we know Behavior Modification with a Professional Dog Behaviorist will help him to overcome. We are not sure what happened to Bruno before he came to the shelter, but he gets extremely anxious around children and some strangers. Bruno’s PTSD makes him feel threatened and he becomes aggressive so that the person or situation causing him anxiety will back away. Bruno also does not like to be hugged or restrained, as he feels trapped and panics. Once he knows you are a safe loving companion, he lets his guard down, and will put his head on your chest, just begging for affection.
Environments that have a high level of activity, like downtown with lots of traffic and people, also trigger Bruno's PTSD. In Bruno’s safe home environment, he lets his guard down and relaxes with his beings. It is because of that, we know Bruno can rehab from his trauma. He just needs the professional help that can bring him there.
Bruno is currently in a foster home so that we can minimize his anxiety. He is doing well in his foster home, but he needs intense behavior modification to help him to learn to cope and feel safe in all environments, that way he can move on to finding his forever home. At the end of Bruno's training he will be seeking a very special home that will be willing to continue Bruno’s recovery and is in it for Bruno.
In order to get Bruno the life saving training, Bruno is asking the animal loving public to please help raise the money for his training. All funds will go directly to the Animal Behaviorist who has skills in bringing Bruno out of his trauma when it triggers, and show him coping skills that will help him to have a happy and loving life.
