Help Save Birds & Bees Nursery!

Birds & Bees Nursery needs your help! Birds & Bees Nursery is a small plant shop in SE Portland, Oregon. The shop is owned and operated by Caitlin Gaul and Amanda Lepley Simard.   We are both Portland natives who live in SE Portland and share a passion for plants!    Our business moved into it's new home at 3327 SE 50th after being forced out of our original location by landlord issues.  We scraped enough money together for a down payment on our new place and to pay our moving costs.  Soon after we moved an anonymous complaint was filed with the City of Portland about our business occupying a house.  We are in a location zoned commercial but are now required to apply for a change of occupancy permit from residential to commercial.  This involves permit fees in excess of $10,000 and lots of expensive work on our little house to bring it up to commercial code.  As a last resort we have decided to ask our community for financial help.   In the 6 years Birds & Bees Nursery has been open for business we have donated thousands of dollars to businesses, schools and others in our community.  We have made every effort to source products from local makers, artists and plant growers.   We believe local businesses play a vital part in making Portland  thrive.  We will be so grateful to anyone who can help us get past this unfortunate obstacle!  Every little bit helps!  Thank you.
