Help save baby DiBi's life

Donation protected
Our Dear friends,

Anyone who knows us well would have heard of our Cambodian brother Bunthoeun, maybe you have even met him personally. He was the first person we met when we landed in Cambodia 7 years ago, the man who has been by our side since day one and the man our parents consider more part of the family than Lauren and I sometimes.

He needs our help.

On the 06/10/18 Bunthoeun and his wonderful wife brought their first born son into the world, DiBi Thoeun. He was healthy, he was happy, their little family was in new baby-bliss.

23 days later, every parent's worst nightmare happened. DiBi was taken to the children’s hospital with servers vomiting and diarrhea. Originally the doctors thought he was allergic to the formula the hospital had provided. After switching to hyper allergenic formula, the symptoms continued.

The doctors started treating him for gastritis, but after 10 days in the children’s hospital, DiBi’s health was still rapidly declining. Our already small baby was becoming even smaller.

Yesterday, the head doctor at the children’s hospital declared him critical, and without the right resources for a correct diagnosis, they sent him to the international hospital. After a few hours with the international hospital doctors, they sent him via ambulance to The Bangkok International hospital ICU.

His mum, leangheng, went with him in the ambulance. Bunthoeun flew with me to meet them there as the hospital only allows one parent in the ambulance.

International hospitals are expensive. Children’s ICU is even more so. $2000 per night to be exact. But how do you measure the dollar sign of a life? How do you say no to a person who’s countries medical system has failed them?

You don’t. You do what you can to save an innocent child’s life.

The pediatric doctors have been wonderful. Last night they took blood and stool samples and have requested a pediatric gut specialist to examine our tiny baby today.
As they patiently wait for the test results, the weight of the last few weeks in prominent in these brand new parents faces. And the daunting task of finding out how they will ever be able to afford this life saving medical care for their baby boy.

Bunthoeun And leangheng are potentially facing medical bills up to $25,000USD- but they are also facing a bright, happy, healthy future for their baby boy.

So friends, family, anyone who will listen. I know it’s Christmas and money is precious and hard to come by at times, but please help us save the life of DiBi.

No amount is too small. We would appreciate your help in sharing this Gofund me, if you cannot help financially, maybe someone you know can.

From our hearts to yours-

xx
