Our Dear friends,

Anyone who knows us well would have heard of our Cambodian brother Bunthoeun, maybe you have even met him personally. He was the first person we met when we landed in Cambodia 7 years ago, the man who has been by our side since day one and the man our parents consider more part of the family than Lauren and I sometimes.

He needs our help.

On the 06/10/18 Bunthoeun and his wonderful wife brought their first born son into the world, DiBi Thoeun. He was healthy, he was happy, their little family was in new baby-bliss.

23 days later, every parent's worst nightmare happened. DiBi was taken to the children’s hospital with servers vomiting and diarrhea. Originally the doctors thought he was allergic to the formula the hospital had provided. After switching to hyper allergenic formula, the symptoms continued.

The doctors started treating him for gastritis, but after 10 days in the children’s hospital, DiBi’s health was still rapidly declining. Our already small baby was becoming even smaller.

Yesterday, the head doctor at the children’s hospital declared him critical, and without the right resources for a correct diagnosis, they sent him to the international hospital. After a few hours with the international hospital doctors, they sent him via ambulance to The Bangkok International hospital ICU.

His mum, leangheng, went with him in the ambulance. Bunthoeun flew with me to meet them there as the hospital only allows one parent in the ambulance.

International hospitals are expensive. Children’s ICU is even more so. $2000 per night to be exact. But how do you measure the dollar sign of a life? How do you say no to a person who’s countries medical system has failed them?

You don’t. You do what you can to save an innocent child’s life.

The pediatric doctors have been wonderful. Last night they took blood and stool samples and have requested a pediatric gut specialist to examine our tiny baby today.
As they patiently wait for the test results, the weight of the last few weeks in prominent in these brand new parents faces. And the daunting task of finding out how they will ever be able to afford this life saving medical care for their baby boy.

Bunthoeun And leangheng are potentially facing medical bills up to $25,000USD- but they are also facing a bright, happy, healthy future for their baby boy.

So friends, family, anyone who will listen. I know it’s Christmas and money is precious and hard to come by at times, but please help us save the life of DiBi.

No amount is too small. We would appreciate your help in sharing this Gofund me, if you cannot help financially, maybe someone you know can.

From our hearts to yours-

xx

EDIT- please note: As this campaign is set to an Australian account all donations are transferred in Australian dollar not USD unfortunately. Please keep this in mind when making your kind donation <3

DiBi UPDATE <3

Our little darling flew back to Bangkok over the weekend for his check-up at the hospital.

We are thrilled to say everything is going great and the doctors are very pleased with his recovery.

DiBi is strong and healthy because of the kind hearts around the world.

Thank you to everyone who shared, donated, started the conversation and sent us love. They say 'it takes a village' and baby DiBi's village expands across the globe.

From our hearts to yours xx

Hi Friends!

We have fantastic news!
Yesterday afternoon our darling DiBi and his mum and dad were discharged from the hospital and arrived home in SiemReap late last night.

They were discharged on the concession they take DiBi to the Royal Angkor Hospital (Bangkok hospitals sister hospital here in Siem Reap, the one who sent us in the ambulance) regularly for monitoring and updates.

I will post an update about the funds once we can sit down and go through everything together.

But for now, we are counting our blessings, all 495 of you who have saved this precious life.

From our hearts to yours- x

Hi Friends!

Just a quick little update on our darling boy.

DiBi is responding well to the treatment. He no longer has to be fed through a feeding tube and is back on the bottle.

The doctors removed the IV from his central vein, as his skin was starting to react. He has been taking the medication orally and keeping it down.

Since arrival he has been on medication to help him control diarrhea and vomiting, He has now been taken off that, and is able to control it himself.

This is all good news!

Our little darling is now in what we call the monitoring stage. Seeing how he goes with the amino acid-based formula, without the medication to control his bowels.

I want to take this time to express our deepest gratitude to all of you. For sure, he would not have made it without being able to get to reliable health care. For sure, he could not have accessed that health care without all of you.

So saying that YOU saved our darling DiBi's is not an exaggeration, not just fluffy words thrown around. That actually just happened. YOU made sure this little baby has a bright future ahead of him.

He is not out of the woods yet, but we are all so much more hopeful that he will be soon.

From our hearts to yours xx

friends!
Our baby boy is now out of ICU. He has been taken up to the children’s ward

It’s not clear days just yet though, even though the treatment seems to be working, we still don’t have a clear diagnosis. The doctors main priority is getting him strong and healthy. The milk he has been given is a amino acid based formula and it is the only thing he can handle, the doctors said he will be on this milk for at least the next 6 months. This milk is not available in Cambodia, so we much purchase 6 months worth of milk here, at $50 a box.

Still more blood tests to do, and Bunthoeun and leangheng are exhausted.

We don’t know how long we will be in the children’s ward, it could be 4 days or 4 weeks.

So the only real updates I can give is that he’s out of ICU

The hospital bills are almost over the amount raised already, but we are hopeful with your help we will reach our goal x
