My baby was born with a weight of 370 grams. To put that in perspective, that is about the weight and size of a can of coca-cola, and the recommended cut off for preemie resuscitation is 450grams. Watch the youtube video to learn more about my miracle baby, it has over three million views already!
Today my baby is a healthy 8 months (corrected age) girl and she has no health issues or any developmental delays. I am so grateful for the medical staff who have supported me through this journey. I am an extremely lucky mother and I cannot imagine what it would be like for my baby to not have had the chance to live…
As of November 2015, Zimbabwe had the 4th highest rates of preterm births globally, with 16.6 babies out of every 100 babies born too early. It also has a very high rate of maternal mortality. Team of Project Thrive is working hard and we have delivered our first container with medical supplies to Mpilo Hospital in August of 2018 and completed our first needs assessment trip this January.
Right now our goal is to raise $15000 for shipping another large container to Zimbabwe, we have already raised some money through other sources and the goal of this campaign is to raise $8000. This time container will bring incubators, breathing machines, UV light machines, hospital beds and other life savings machinery to Zimbabwe to help mothers and babies. This medical equipment is no longer needed at Canadian hospitals and would be thrown out but it works perfectly fine. All the funds raised will go directly to this cause! And we can provide you with a tax receipt as well!
