Sarah's Fight Against Lymphoma!

Donation protected
In July, Sarah noticed an enlarged lymph node near her collarbone that led her to seek a physician’s opinion. Her doctor said to keep an eye on it at school, but a biopsy was not yet recommended. A few months later, she began experiencing growing pains down her right arm, and received a second opinion from another physician. Upon further examination, this doctor expressed more concern and referred her to UConn Health. After undergoing a biopsy in mid-October, she was diagnosed with stage IIB-bulky Classical Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

Since then, Sarah has returned to her home in northern New Jersey to get world class treatment at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in NYC. As you can imagine, the costs of her chemotherapy treatments, surgeries, and other expenses will add up quickly. Additionally, Sarah’s treatment may cause her to become infertile. To circumvent this risk, she has decided to pursue fertility preservation, namely an egg freezing cycle. The last thing she and her family should have to worry about right now is money. The money raised by this GoFundMe page will go directly to her family in order to pay for her medical care and other expenses related to her illness.

Sarah is a straight A student in the Honors College at the University of Connecticut, where she studies Physiology and Neurobiology and minors in music. In addition to being a full-time student, she also conducts research in both neuroscience and music. On top of that, she is the secretary (and the resident high soprano!) of her a cappella group, the Rolling Tones. In high school, Sarah was a student-athlete, and performed in her all-school musicals and choirs while playing varsity soccer. In the near future, she hopes to attend medical school and eventually become a physician.

Anyone that has met Sarah adores her. Always lighting up the room with her hilarious wit and spirit, Sarah shows love and kindness to everyone that she meets. She is truly an incredible person and one of the best and closest friends I have ever had. Every one of her friends and family members has been touched by her genuine warmth and humor. Because of this, I know that we would all agree — for this to happen to her is incredibly unfair. The journey to recovery won’t be easy, but despite the stress, Sarah continues show her unrelenting strength and positivity!

Any donation is greatly appreciated and would allow her to focus all of her energy on getting better. Thank you for taking the time to read this; your support means the world to Sarah and to all of her friends and family. #sarahstrong #laterlymphoma
