On April 10th 2017, Sam will set off on the trip of a lifetime in an attempt to circumnavigate the globe by bicycle.
The route takes him through 35 countries, across 5 continents and covers approximately 52,000km. During the three to four years that the trip is expected to take, Sam is aiming to raise awareness to the environmental issues currently affecting our planet.

With a daily budget of just £10 for the whole trip, Sam will be wild camping and cooking by the roadside for himself each night. This Gofundme page has been created to help support Sam on his trip and ultimatley, help him to continue raising awareness of the environmental issues that currently affect the planet and highlight those organisations, charities and individuals that work to protect it.
A few words from Sam
I’ve been obsessed with travel for my entire life. Some of my earliest memories involve poring over maps and travel guides and losing myself in dreams of distant lands. Fuelled by the pictures in guidebooks and the exotic names of far-flung islands, I spent my childhood exploring the coastline and parks around my town and arriving home well past my curfew. Most of my peers hoped to become footballers and rock stars, while I dreamt of exploration and getting lost in foreign countries.
At the age of 24 and bored with my life in small-town England, I found myself craving a challenge. After quitting my job and selling everything I owned, I bought a campervan for £1,000 and hit the road in October 2011 with £500 in my pocket and no real plan other than to see as much of the world as possible.
Since then, I’ve criss-crossed Europe in search of new climbing destinations, whether in the hills and mountains of the Alps or on the sun-kissed sea cliffs of Spain and completed a two-year lap around Australia, all while living out of vans that I converted myself for less than a few thousand pound each. Five years, three campervans and thousands of miles across two continents later, I am ready to take on a new challenge.
In April 2017, I set off on the trip of a lifetime — one of the hardest trips I’ll ever take — swapping four wheels for two as I attempt to circumnavigate the globe by bicycle. Why? I’m an avid climber, trekker and mountaineer, and am ready for something new. I’ve been a climbing instructor for 10 years and always enjoyed the freedom of cycling. Plus, I’m still obsessed with travel and intrigued by the people who share this beautiful planet.
