Help Runaway/Throwaway Youth

Anyone who knows me knows it has been a life-long goal to help at-risk youth. I am finally at a place in my life where I can make a difference.
I've decided to focus my efforts on the exceptionally vulnerable population of runaway youth, who are often exposed to drugs, violence, abuse, human trafficking, homelessness and extremely unsafe conditions. They often don't know where to turn for help, and even if they do, many runaways risk being returned to a homelife that is far from safe. With a deep understanding of the needs of this marginalized and highly invisible population, it is my personal drive to help restore a runaway youth's sense of empowerment, safety and right to a fulfilling life, while raising funds to provide basics such as clothing, food and shelter.
Through a central website and community fundraisers, my plan is to launch an organization which will provide for the basic needs of this population. Funds will go towards street outreach to provide blankets, hygiene items, food, clothing, and shelter to kids on the streets. Eventually, I hope to grow the organization to be able to provide for healthcare, school supplies, legal resources, transitional housing and job training.
THE ULTIMATE GOAL: Open a teen emergency shelter and drop in center which will serve any number of the 7500 children who run away each year in San Diego County. There is currently only one other local teen shelter which has 20 beds. We are in desperate need for more.
While I have the drive and am willing to dedicate my skills and personal time to this undertaking, I need help covering startup costs so I can create, design, launch and manage the website and begin the community fundraisers and internet campaigns.
Any donation, no matter how small, will ultimately make a difference to a child who needs refuge from the brutal elements of life on the streets.
