Help Save Rodanthe's Life

I met Billie Jo nearly 10 years ago when she decided to add one of our Labradors to her home. She is the most dedicated dog owner I have ever know. Billie Jo added Sand Piper to her home a few years later and then opened her heart and home to Maggie. Maggie's owners was terminally ill and he had no one willing to give Maggie a new home. Billie Jo puts her three Labradors first and goes to every expense to see that they receive the medical care necessary to live lives of quality.
Rodanthe, a lovely female black Lab, began experiencing issues with her anal glands. Early treatment included having the glands expressed and a round of antibiotics for infection. Recently, a rectal exam found two small cysts. The hope was that the cysts were a result of another infection and Rodanthe underwent treatment with antibiotics. After two weeks of treatment, the cysts remained and the recommendation was removal of the anal glands with biopsy of the cysts. This began mounting medical expenses for Rodanthe.
Rodanthe's anal glands were removed without issue. Sadly, the biopsy found that the cysts were cancerous. Billie Jo was referred to an oncologist. An MRI was performed and chemotherapy was started right away. When the MRI was reviewed, it was found that one of Rodanthe's adrenal glands is greatly enlarged due to a tumor. The adrenal gland needs to be removed as soon as possible. Among concerns is the fact that the tumor is causing high blood pressure. This along could cause Rodanthe to have a stroke. If left to continue to grow, the tumor will eventually cause death.
Required testing has been expensive and the estimated grand total when all is said and done is $11,000.00.
The prognosis, if surgery is performed soon, is good. Rodanthe has the possibility of living out a 'normal' life, and for 3 - 4 more years, quality years.
Billie Jo is moving forward with this life-saving procedure for Rodanthe. Funds will be used to pay off the expenses already on a Credit Care account (for Rodanth's care to date) and to cover future expenses for Rodanthe's medical care.
Billie Jo loves all three of her Labradors but, Rodanthe holds a very special place in Billie Jo's heart. Ro has been Billie Jo's constant companion for ten years.
It wasn't easy for Billie Jo to say, "Yes", when I approached her and asked if I could set up a Go Fund Me account. Billie Jo is hard-working and at times, has held as many as three jobs to meet her financial responsibilites. These expenses are simply over-whelming.
Billie Jo will be greatly humbled by any assistance people are willing to offer and she will be grateful beyond measure. Words cannot effectively experss the depth of gratitude she feels in knowing that someone cares enough to go to the effort of setting up a Go Fund Me on her behalf.
