Help Reunite the Seven Wonders of Wrentham

The Seven Wonders of Wrentham qualified to attend Destination Imagination (DI) Global Finals this year by winning Regionals and placing second at the State competition! DI is an educational program that helps us learn valuable skills like creative and critical thinking, problem solving, and teamwork through different STEAM-based (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) Challenges.  Since September we have been working to complete the Scientific Challenge—we even designed and built a representation of the brain using recycled materials, LED strips, and a programmable Arduino microcontroller to show how the sensory pathways in the brain work!

This year a key member of our team since 3rd grade, Sophia, unexpectedly moved to Colorado mid-season. We missed her so much that we rewrote our script to include a virtual piece for her character and learned how to operate the technology needed to make that happen in our live performance.  Our efforts earned us a coveted “Spirit of DI” award for exceptional teamwork—the only one awarded in our region—but it’s just not the same without her! We worked extra hard these past months because we made a pact that if we qualified for Globals Sophia would meet us there, in Kansas City, to perform her role in person!

Getting to the competition is expensive, though--registration alone is $5500--so if you’d like to help reunite the Seven Wonders please make a contribution.  We promise to make Wrentham proud!
