Help Restore Hope-Rojas Family

On May 13, 2019  my family experienced a horrible tragedy.  My heart sank to the pit of my stomach as I learned that my older sister and brother in laws business "The Catrina" located in Lincoln Park was set on fire during an armed robbery.  My heart sank even further as I learned that my brother in-law, Sergio Rojas, was inside when it occured. While waiting in the parking lot for her husband to finish a hard days work, my sister witnessed something no one should have to see. She saw her husband run out of a burning building screaming in pain. Sergio managed to escape the fire but not before receiving painful 1st and 2nd degree burn injuries to his face, arms and legs. 

Sergio has been hospitalized at the DMC since Sunday May 13, 2019 and is currently being treated for his wounds.  He will continue to stay at the hospital over the next few days. While he is expected to make a full recovery the process will not be easy as his mobility will be limited over the next few months.  We are all extremely grateful that he is alive and out of danger.

For the past 2 years my sister and her husband have sacrificed so much to build La Catrina and worked countless  hours to make it a success. Anything will help and is greatly appreciated from the bottom of our hearts. 

The money will be used to help with hospital bills and daily living expenses as he recovers in the days to come.

El 13 de Mayo del 2019 mi familia sufrió una horrible tragedia. Mi corazón se rompio al enterarme de que  el negocio de mi hermana y mi cunado, "La Catrina" ubicada en Lincoln Park, fue incendiado durante un robo a mano armada. Mi corazón se rompio aún más cuando supe que mi cuñado, Sergio Rojas, estaba adentro cuando ocurrió. Mientras esperaba en el estacionamiento a que su esposo terminara un duro día de trabajo, mi hermana presenció algo que nadie debería ver. Vio a su marido salir corriendo de un edificio en llamas gritando de dolor. Sergio logró escapar del fuego, pero no antes de recibir dolorosas quemaduras de primer y segundo grado en la cara, los brazos y las piernas. 

Sergio ha estado hospitalizado en el DMC desde el domingo 13 de mayo de 2019 y actualmente recibe tratamiento por sus heridas. Continuará en el hospital durante los próximos días. Si bien se espera que se recupere por completo, el proceso no será fácil, ya que su movilidad se verá limitada durante los próximos meses. Todos estamos extremadamente agradecidos de que él esté vivo y fuera de peligro.
 
Durante los últimos 2 años, mi hermana y su esposo se han sacrificado tanto para construir La Catrina y han trabajado innumerables horas para que sea un éxito. Cualquier cosa ayudará y será muy apreciada desde el fondo de nuestros corazones.
 
El dinero se utilizará para ayudar con las facturas del hospital y los gastos de la vida diaria a medida que se recupere en los próximos días.
