Help refugees directly

Donation protected
Last year in December I went to Calais for the first time and volunteering there has had very big impact on how I view the world and its issues. The refugees from Syria, Kurdistan, Iraq, Iran, Sudan, Eritrea, Pakistan are not what they are often made out to be... they are uprooted, sad, scared human beings with  little or no hope, with terrible traumas and tragic stories of war-torn countries and personal loss. France is radical in its approach to get rid of refugees. The repeated destruction of makeshift camps around the Calais port area and the town of Grande-Synthe, near Dunkirk, has forced many of the refugees to sleep without shelter and also lose their possessions.
Of 500 migrants currently living near Calais, 139 are unaccompanied minors, with another 150 children among 800 living in rudimentary camps close to Dunkirk. They are totally dependent on the few charities working under tough conditions. The daily food /tea deliveries, the medicine, toiletries, help with charging their phones, contacting their families in free wifi stations and just the human contact with people who care keeps them alive. I am not permitted to post pictures of the amazing people I me there, some of which made it, others deported.
This year, early December I am going again. A kind soul has offered me a lift in a delivery van headed for the UK and dropping me of in Calais. I am collecting small items like phones, chargers, medicine, raincoats, emergency blankets, handwarmers, etc in Mallorca to take with me. Some friends have asked me to set up a gofundme page. Any money I am collecting I will take there and buy what is most needed once I am in Calais . ANY small donation can go a long way. Often someone needs shoes or a warm jacket. Medicine will go to the amazing FAST doctors on the ground. Distribution happens with the brilliant and experienced team of Care4Calais.
Thank you for reading this to the end . If you cannot give anything please share my gofundme page.

In the end we are all humans.
