Reed Morgan was diagnosed with bone cancer February 5th, 2019 and will continue to undergo chemotherapy for the next 6-9 months.  He will have surgery on May 2nd to remove the tumor and be fitted with a bone prosthetic.

Reed, and his bright smile, has been a part of the CYA Little League community for many years, as well as his father and coach Michael Morgan. With that long history, CYA Little League is encouraging donations to help the Morgan family with the expenses associated with battling this horrible disease.

In addition, the annual inter-league CYA-SYA Little League baseball games will be played Saturday, May 11th at Chantilly Park and SYA fields in Centreville and Chantilly.  As part of these games, CYA players will be wearing gold pediatric cancer ribbon decals on their helmets from Ellie’s Hats, donated by Glory Days Grill - Stone Ridge and gold shoe laces from Lace the Game , donated by Pedal It Out, to show solidarity and raise awareness of cancer (both pediatric and non-pediatric).

Please feel free to share this with others and on social media!

Any, and all, help is appreciated!

Thank you everyone for the continued support of the Morgan family. Just wanted to provide a quick update since it’s been awhile.

Reed and his family were able to get away for a few days over 4th of July to the beach and enjoy some much needed time away.

Reed continues to battle this awful disease and starts 3 consecutive weeks of chemo today.

Please continue to keep Reed and his family in your thoughts and prayers!

Another update from the family...

After 6 days in the hospital, Reed has returned home for post-surgery recovery. The first 3-4 days were pretty rough as they tried to get Reed’s pain under control, along with getting a leaking nerve block fixed (3 times!!!). But he’s doing well now, hopping through the hospital hallways...a little too quick for mom’s comfort and had his feeding tube removed!! He has had a great past few days. Reed will continue chemo for the next 4-6 months starting next Thursday May 16th. But now the tumor is out, we can all breathe a sigh of relief and move on to the next step of recovery.

Thanks again for everyone’s prayers, good vibes, generosity, and support. Reed definitely feels the love being sent his way!

From Reed’s family...

Reed took the next BIG step in his battle with osteosarcoma today...to have his tumor removed. His 6hr surgery went well and they were able to remove the tumor with good margins. The engineers did an awesome job at designing a solid piece of stainless steel, through 3D printing, which fit exactly into this area. His surgeon was able to salvage his knee joint, which is great news for future mobility.

Reed is in good spirits and his pain is being helped by a few nerve blocks.

Reed is a third of the way done with chemo and will continue treatments in a week or two.

Thank you for the tremendous outpouring of support, both financially and through thoughts and prayers.
