Help Pucca’s Family Cover Spinal Surgery
My sweet baby old lady, Pucca, jumped off the bed wrong. Within hours, Pucca lost control of her front and back legs. By 2 pm that day, she was paralyzed from the neck down.
We were sent to UC Davis Veterinary Hospital to have her looked at. They found that one of the disks in her neck had gotten injured, putting pressure on and inflaming her spinal cord; this is what caused her to become paralyzed.
Pucca has gone through surgery at UC Davis Veterinary Hospital to repair a ruptured disc in her neck which was putting pressure on her spinal cord. She is scared, she is away from home, but she is doing well. They sat her up today (she was unable to do it herself, but that is normal for now) and she had an appetite (nothing unusual there). She has lived a long life; she came from the streets of Tijuana, became a San Francisco shelter dog, and found her into our house as a foster dog. It was not until we met with a few potential adopters and saw the way Pucca reacted to our absence that we realized our home was her forever home. With us, she runs and jumps, and climbs all over us.
Although it will take months before Pucca will be recovered after hospitalization and physical therapy, she will recover thanks to the incredible team at UC Davis. However, my family and I need some help covering the costs of the surgery and hospitalization required to save our precious baby's life.
