My mother Melissa Call (on the left in the photo) is the owner of a business called Ecossentials Local Market; a local natural & organic food store promoting zero waste and reducing packaging in Powell River, BC. Recently, my mom has been put under an unimaginable amount of stress because of a lawsuit that was filed against her by a former friend whom she trusted. The lawsuit has been hanging over her head for the past 2 years and legal bills have been adding up. The case is going to a 10-day trial on Jan 21st which is going to cost an extraordinary amount of money just to pay the legal fees. This is a no-win situation either way because of the amount of money that this woman is suing her for. Even if my mom does win the lawsuit, she likely will not be able to get back any of the money she is putting towards legal fees as they will be well over $120,000 by the end of the trial. It is so unbelievably unfair and I’m very afraid that my mom might lose the store or our home over this lawsuit.
My mom doesn’t deserve this and I’m just trying to help as best I can as it is breaking my heart to watch her going through all this while I sit by helplessly. Any donation would be so very helpful and appreciated. It might just help ease her mind to know people are thinking about her and care about her situation.
