Help Patchie Retain Their Son

Donation protected
On August 14th, Charlie, Patchie's six-year-old son was removed from Philadelphia, PA to Maryland. The way in which Patchie was alerted to this was from an email sent from their Ex*  stating that he does not intend to leave Maryland in the foreseeable future. This is after numerous statements that made it clear that the Ex wanted full custody and would get it whatever means he deemed necessary.

Patchie and The Ex recently ended their relationship which left things strained and sharing custody of Charlie difficult. They allowed The Ex to take Charlie to Maryland under the pretense that he was going there to visit, not to stay. This is the start of a custody battle that will likely be very nasty. This fundraiser is to raise money for them to get an attorney to reclaim their son. Patchie has tried calling, texting, and emailing. He has refused to answer his phone.

As of 8/14/2019 Patchie's Support Team has  not connected them with a lawyer; once we do, we will update here.  This means that the number listed on this GoFundMe is rough at best and may be subject to change. If we have overshot funds, they will be going towards giving Patchie some additional wiggle room in her budget.

Current breakdown of how the funds will be spent:
* $2,000 is the estimated the amount that putting a lawyer on retainer will cost.
* $3,000 is the estimated amount for court fees and possibly having to go to Family Court.
* $2,000 is the estimated cost of getting a replacement car.

As more information becomes available, we will update the fundraiser.

*We are currently leaving The Ex's name out of this until Patchie can retain an attorney and they are cleared to state his name.

  8/15/2019 UPDATED INFO:

This is from Patchie, detailing how this happened to those who are concerned.

" I agreed to let [The Ex] take Charlie to Maryland during weekdays this summer. Charlie comes back on weekends. I agreed to sharing custody with [The Ex] in Philly. The arrangement was that he would get a place in Queens Village, where Char would go to school. I would finish my apprenticeship and rent a room in [a home they have previously lived].
Aug 1st, we had to move out of [The Ex's] apt, as he found tenants to fill it. I had a place to go, to [New House]. [The Ex] did not. And still does not, have a place in Philly to live. I enrolled Charlie in my catchment and told [The Ex] , when he gets a place in a better catchment, we will switch.

[Yesterday] morning I got an email from [The Ex] saying that he was staying in Maryland and to arrange visits with Charlie in which I would only see him on weekends and holidays.

I already told him no, and repeated that no. Explaining that I cannot raise Charlie on weekends, I need him consistently. I want shared custody. Not visitation rights. I asked for another plan.

He did not respond to this.
I asked if Charlie would be home on the weekend.
He did not respond to this.
I called him and he told me to email him, then hung up.
He still has not responded to my emails.
He then had my phone turned off. [They were still on a Family cell phone plan that Patchie had yet to untangle herself from.]

I restricted him and his family and close friends from seeing my personal posts. I did not block or unfriend anyone. no one is on my block list. [The Ex] is not on my block list.

Word reached him that I am accusing him of kidnapping.
I didn't say that.
But I DID ask the question.

What I am doing is preparing for the worst because Charlie is out of the state with a parent who just told me he wants to keep him there, has not yet agreed to bring him back, and has obstructed any way I have of contacting him or Charlie.

So far, this is not legally kidnapping.

But if I want to keep at least half custody of my kid, I cannot count on communication with the co-parent. I need a court order to secure that.

After the court order/hearing, taking Charlie would be considered kidnapping. "

8/15/2019: UPDATE
And then a truck literally plowed into Patchie's car while they was driving around town getting paperwork filed. A truck plowed into their car and main source of transportation. The vehicle is surely totalled.

We have upped the fund to $7000 so that they can get a new car and be able to get Charlie (once they are able) from Maryland.
