Help our Halas
Donation protected
Halas is our 5 year old mixed rescue dog. Unexpectedly, he stopped eating/drinking and wasn’t his normal, playful self. We took him to the vet to treat what we thought was just a UTI to find out it was much more. Not only does he have bladder stones, after blood tests that caused hematomas and several rounds of antibiotics and fluids, Halas’s platelet count in his blood is at 0 (normal being 175,000-500,000). With that being said, we still don’t know what’s wrong. Halas needs a blood transfusion just to get him stable, and assuming that will help his platelet count, he will still need surgery for bladder stones. For anybody who owns a dog, you know these furry kids are family. At what point does the treatment become too expensive and we have to stop? With help, we may not have to let that dictate just what treatment can be done for Halas. We know he has many more years to live and we can’t give up on him!
