Help our Dad's battle with Cancer
$56,789 of $44,000 goal
After numerous consultations with doctors regarding lower back pain, Mick was diagnosed with Renal Cancer in October 2015.
This devastating news followed a successful battle with Prostate Cancer in 2009.
Mick has always maintained a positive upbeat attitude, he would overcome this newest challenge , win this battle and will do everything in his power to be here with his family.
Treatment was commenced through Peter Mac, however this particular cancer does not respond to conventional treatments. Follow up investigations did not go as hoped and we were devastated with the news that his cancer was Metatastic and had spread to his lungs.
Fast forward to today after exhausting all avenues of treatment, he received the news that this horrible disease has spread, now into the liver. The last option for treatment to give him a chance to see his grandchildren grow up is a self funded immunotherapy treatment. This treatment comes at a massive personal financial cost- $44,000 per year ongoing.
Mick is the hardest working, most genuine, down to earth person you could ever be lucky enough to meet. He would do anything for anybody and expect nothing in return. Everyone who meets him is a better person for it and he is loved beyond your wildest imagination.
As you can imagine due to appointments, treatment side effects, the cancer itself and generally feeling unwell Mick has been unable to work and this in itself has impacted financially, and added to his burden.
Any donation big or small would be greatly appreciated to help our beautiful dad and poppy receive the treatment he deserves . We are hoping to be able to help him with costs for his first year of treatment, to decrease his stress and let him focus on winning this battle.
To say that we're are grateful and moved by everyone's generosity and messages is a massive understatement. We cannot thank you all enough, and I know Dad specifically has been more moved by this than I have ever seen.
We have a long road ahead and this helps remove a stressful aspect so that Dad can focus on his health and recovery.
Again we want to thank everyone for all of their efforts, messages, calls and donations. You are all AMAZING.
Thank you to all who have donated, shared and sent their support. It has definitely provided some positives and good feelings!
As some may be aware Dad has given an abundance of time and effort over the years to coaching kids basketball. It started 20 years ago when I was 16 and we needed an adult to coach and since then has become almost a second job with the Altona Meadows Whale Sharks.
Some of the kids (no adults) he coached over the years have started taking a or ways to help and I wanted to share a couple of the messages to show everyone and Dad the impact he has unknowingly had.
" ...this is Michael were talking about his gave all of us the knowledge and passion to play ball we all today, years of time and effort as coach just so us boys could have a fun childhood"
"Any bit to help one of the most inspirational figures in my life in his battle to beat cancer!"
Once again thank you to everyone for you donations, share, support and encouragement so far. It has been eye opening and we are at a loss for words.
