29721322_15257393270_r.jpegDear friends,
If you’ve seen the news, you know the big island of Hawaii is engulfed in lava in particular areas. This disaster has left Suzette Maurice, one of the most amazing people I’ve had the privilege of knowing, without shelter, food, safety, and her scooter too! I met Suzette on the Big Island in 2013 when she worked for Keala Noel  at Aloha Healing Women. I was visiting there from Austin, TX. Above all else, what impressed me most was Suzette’s resilience, resourcefulness, and generosity. Given her fiercely strong spirit, I couldn’t sit back and read her messages of despair on Facebook without doing something for another moment. I asked Suzette if it would be alright for me to start this fund on her behalf, and she consented. As you know from her posts, she has had a very tough time getting around the lava without her scooter.
She adores living off the land, but Puna is not able to sustain her any longer. And although she is a child of nature and thrives living off the land, conditions outside are terribly harsh with gases in the air and acid rain falling. She’s been roughing it in the elements, but it’s taking its toll.
Simply put, ANYTHING you can offer will help a most generous and beautiful soul through an unimaginably difficult time. With your help, she can pay for much needed food, shelter, and transportation.
Since she is currently without a home or address, I am sending our donations to her via PayPal and relaying your messages of support.

Mahalo for your help. Wishing Suzette and all of her loved ones on the Big Island much aloha.

Wonderful news! Suzette finally cracked into her PayPal and has access to our generous contributions!!!

She will post an update herself through Facebook soon. Big sigh of relief there!

We plan to aim her fundraising directly through PayPal most likely from here on out as gofundme does charge a fee that I’ve been covering, so she wouldn’t lose out on precious dollars.

I am praying for brighter days for our dear Suzette! Mahalo for your support and caring ways!

Friends,
Big changes are coming for Suzette. She is leaving the Big Island to rest her mind and body, which hasn’t fared well from running from the VOG and eruptions. She tells me that a friend didn’t even recognize her yesterday, she’s so disheveled, and she’s having trouble walking right now.
The decision to leave her beloved paradise home was a very difficult one. Thankfully, an old friend made this decision easier by buying her a ticket to the mainland (San Francisco I believe) and offering some respite for her recovery.
Once she bounces back, she will move onto the business of carrying on, which means she’ll need a car or van for her to pave her way to a new life on the mainland.
She is so grateful for your help and she feels your support and love. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Please continue sharing this gofundme - it really helps. Mahalo for your efforts and support.
-Ela
