Help Nikki cover her brain surgery costs
Donation protected
I first met this wonderful mother of three boys in the Neurosurgery ward at the Canberra hospital. We were ward buddies for a very long time! She, like myself, has spent the last year recovering from mutiple brain surgeries in an effort to live a pain free life. Nikki is suffering from
a rare condition called Chiari Malformation. What is that, you ask? Oh it’s literally just her brain falling out of head!
Unfortunately, there have been ongoing complications post her second surgery and she is now required to have even more. Even more unfortunate is that it is classed as elective which is not covered by the public health system. How having a hole cut out of your skull and a dura patch being inserted (which has now adhered to your brain), repaired is classed as elective, I don’t understand.. but that is what she’s dealing with.
Nikki has been quoted a figure of approx $30,000 to get the surgery done in Sydney by one of Australia’s best neurosurgeons. However, as she has three young children and has been unable to work for quite some time, it will be tough to save the funds up.
Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated!
