7/27/17: The day that enough money was raised to make sure a wonderful person and passionate friend was able to get back on their feet after a devastating loss of career. WE DID IT/
My good friend and former coworker, Nicole Mejias needs your help. She was recently let go from her passion project after moving across the country on a promise for work. This was given to her, but then it was abruptly taken away. Now she needs to get back home and the trip from California back to Florida isn't cheap. While they gave her a severance, it's not enough to cover all the additional expenses that will come with such a sudden move.
The goal we're trying to reach is $5,000.
With the way the costs break down, it's going to be at least $2,500 just to move her things over, $700 for friends to fly in from Florida so she can get any help at all, $900 to get her car back, and at least another $600 in incidentals to drive everything from California to Florida. In addition to this, she has her own car payments and insurance to worry about, and without any income, she's going to be left high and dry.
The move is going to have to happen in August, so the time window for this fundraiser is going to have to be the end of July. I understand that not everyone has disposable income to help others with, which is why even just sharing this page will be huge.
Nicole a kind person, the kind of friend who would give her shirt off her back to someone who needed it. The kind of friend who is as fierce as a tiger when it comes to defending herself and those she cares about. Which is why she is not the type to easily accept money from friends. However, as someone who can be just as stubborn, it is better that we band together as a community to help each other than let someone suffer alone.
So I want to thank you all again for taking your time to read this or watch the video I posted. It means a lot not just to me, but to Nicole, her friends and her family, and I think to this world as a whole. Nicole is truly one of the kindest people I know, and I can say with certainty that she would be pouring her heart out for someone who was put through the same or worse. Which is why I think we should be there to help her, so that another great person isn't just left out in the cold.
