Nadia's only chance at an operation
Hi and thank you for taking interest in my medical campaign. The person whom I am raising money for is my cousin and a beautiful one year old girl called Nadia, who was born with a congenital deficiency in her left hand.
The official diagnosis is that she has an "intact thumb and little finger. Has hypoplastic ring and even more hypoplastic middle finger. Middle finger has duplicated distal phalanx. X-Rays show that there is one thumb and three finger metacarpals present. There is one proximal phalanx for the ring finger and no proximal phalanx for the middle finger. There are distal phalanges for each of the ring and middle and duplicated middle finger. There is no joint connection between the proximal phalanx of the ring and the distal phalanx of the ring finger. There is a syndactaly between the middle and ring fingers and between the ring and little fingers. The latter is partial while the former is complete. "
Nadia and her parents had recently met with an orthopedic specialist from the USA who had diagnosed Nadia and who proposed the following treatment :
1. toe phalangeal transplant to space between proximal and distal phalanges of ring finger. Identify and connect the flexor and extensor tendons if they are present. Back fill the one toe with iliac crest bone graft with apophysis.
2. Trasfer the duplicated distal phalanx of the middle finger to the space between the metatarsal and distal phalanx of the middle finger. Identify and connect the flexor and extensor tendons if they are present.
3. The syndactaly release between the ring and little finger will need to be done independently at a later date by a surgeon.
This operation could give Nadia an opportunity to get a full hand of fingers and use her hand normally. It is crucial however, for the operation to take place by the age of 18 months and as less and less time remains, her parents are desperate for any help that they can get to be able to fund the operation for their daughter. The cost of the operation that they were given was €37,000 which is an amount of money they just would not be able to fund out of their own pockets.
Thank you so much for any donation made, no matter how big or small. Please help us make this operation happen.

From the bottom of our hearts we would like to thank everyone who has helped us thus far. As of right now through multiple fundraising streams we have managed to raise €12,500 which makes us hopeful that Nadia’s operation will be able to go ahead. We are still a good bit off the €36,000 that we need, but again, we are hopeful. In order to reduce the costs of the operation, the doctor who will carry out Nadia’s operation has decided for the operation to take place in Poland and not in the US. It has also been moved to the end of August and by mid-August we need to inform about how much we were able to raise and pay half of the cost in order for it to go ahead. We would like to ask again anyone who can to help! If you can’t donate or have already done so, please share the link to our page with your family and friends and help us get the word out! Thank you.
