Help my mom afford to work

Hi friends, I'm asking you all for money so that my mom can afford a car to drive herself to work. She lives by herself in a suburb of Minneapolis, MN, meaning it is very hard to get around without a car, especially in the winter. A couple weeks ago she was in a car crash which left her car unfixable.
A little bit more about her situation: She immigrated to the US from Mexico about 25 years ago with her husband and had two kids, my sister and me. About 10 years ago, she and my father decided to separate and file for bankruptcy at the same time (credit card debt and house mortgage). My father left at that time and has provided minimal financial support since then. Throughout my life, my mom has worked in meatpacking plants, cleaning houses, and most recently in packing coffee beans.
After being diagnosed with breast cancer and going through chemotherapy in 2018, her options for work were left very limited. Her physical condition was very affected by the treatments and she was out of work for about a year. When she started to look for work again, many places would not hire her because of her physical limitations. She ended up landing at a coffee bean packing plant, although the work is very unstable. Rather than a 40hr/week job, this job only calls her in when there is work, which ends up being only about two days a week. Her wage is $10/hr. Since her car broke down, she has been unable to work and is now not gaining any income and is only getting by with contributions from her kids and her church.
She has a friend that is offering to sell her a car at $5600. Her tax refund of $1600 is coming in soon, so she needs $4000 to cover the rest. She can't go through a bank to buy a car because she doesn't have the credit to get approved for a loan, so this is currently the best solution. My sister is working out of the country and can't buy a car in her name, nor can I because I don't have the credit for it. My sister and I are willing to contribute to the $4000 she needs to buy the car, but we are also struggling financially and can't come up with the complete amount. Anything you could provide would be a great help to our family.
