Rodrigo Pantig's mother- Hiyasmin Pantig, 62 years old, came to Canada last January 16, 2019 with a tourist visa. Just 9 days after she arrived, (Jan. 25, 2019) she was sent to emergency at St. Paul's Hospital in Saskatoon, SK due to severe pain in her swollen knee which was later diagnosed with an infection originating from her diabetic conditions, affecting her legs and feet. Mrs. Pantig's son, Rodrigo T. Pantig Jr. applied for medical insurance coverage upon her arrival but was refused twice due to her medical condition.
His mom's confinement in the hospital without medical insurance coverage is a daily battle for them. Hospital bill has already gone up $23,000 as of Jan. 30th, 2019. She is also scheduled for toe amputation due to diabetic complications.
Rodrigo Pantig works at Tim Hortons and his earnings could not support to cover 100% of his mother's accumulating hospital bills.
