Help My Friend Return Home After Stroke

Donation protected
One of my best friends, Mary, was the victim of a stroke on Christmas Eve. On January 11, 2019, Mary had a pacemaker placed into her heart. She is still undergoing physical therapy at an inpatient rehab facility and ready to return home. Mary and her husband (more about her husband later) were having trouble with their furnace at the time of the stroke, but could not afford to repair it. They were using space heaters to keep warm. Upon further inspection, it was discovered the their house is a fire hazard due to electrical wiring that is not up to standards. As a result, she is unable to return to her home until all electrical problems are repaired.

While in the hospital recovering from her stroke and surgery, Mary’s husband, Joe became very ill with pneumonia. Within hours of being rushed to the hospital, Joe became unconscious and after 11 days on life support, unfortunately passed away on January 18, 2019. Now Mary not only needs to pay thousands of dollars to repair her house, she must also pay for her husband’s funeral. Due to losing her husband, her income is going to be significantly less and will not be able to pay for all of the costs that she has incurred. Mary is an absolute cat lover and has 5 cats at home awaiting her return home. Unfortunately, if these repairs are not made, she will lose all of her cats, which would devastate her on top of the grief of losing her husband.

Mary and Joe are 2 of the kindest, giving and selfless people I’ve ever met. They donate to many causes while not being able to heat their own house. Their theory has always been, “pay it forward.” They ask for nothing in return and refuse to accept any repayment. All they ask is to pay it forward when in a better financial situation to do so.

Mary is now in the situation of losing literally everything on top of losing her husband. They have been so kind to so many, and now she is in need of help. I hope there are some kind souls that can help this amazing woman and prevent her from losing literally everything.

Thank you in advance for your generosity.
