Help My Daughter To Get The Treatment She Needs

Donation protected
I have started this page in a desperate attempt to try and help the recovery of my daughter, in whatever way that I can. I ask that you please read the full story and understand the desperation of my appeal. As her father, I don’t know what else I can do to try and help her.

Over the last few weeks, a series of events have taken place that has spiralled my daughter’s mental health out of control. This means that currently she has lost her home, her job, her independence and the little family/partner she shared these with in London. My hope is that some of these losses are temporary (hopefully) but they’re going to take time to heal and rebuild.

Thanks to the amazing help of the mental health nurses, police, paramedics and everybody else who has gotten involved in her case, my daughter has been diagnosed as having Emotional Dysregulation/Borderline Personality Disorder which is the sole reason why her relationship is currently in tatters and her whole livelihood has been left in ruins. This disorder has managed to get progressively worse over the last few months like a plague and it has pushed her to the very edge, which has led to some very frightening events in recent days/weeks, and which have ultimately left her homeless and very vulnerable.

Obviously, my daughter is devastated that this disorder has taken over and destroyed so much of her life at the moment and she is desperate to try and recover her life, her relationship and her independence. However, the grief that she is carrying is very debilitating at the moment and her financial situation means she doesn’t have any means to get herself back on her feet. Seeing her struggling with this every day is my worst nightmare and I feel powerless to know what to do.

At the very least, what she needs to do is to begin treatment for this disorder as quickly as possible. As it’s a very specific form of therapy, the choice for where she can go is very limited and the waiting lists are very long as well. As she’s currently ‘homeless’ she’s had to register at the local surgery and she’s been given a minimum of 2 months just to be properly assessed, and then there is no guarantee that they’ll even be able to offer her what she needs to begin recovery anyway. While there are many more options in London, she doesn’t currently have a base there so she’d need to travel up there every week to attend her appointments.

Seeing her so full of grief and sadness, day in, day out, tells me that waiting another two months is going to slow down any form of healing that she may be able to begin working on alongside professional help. If I had the money, I wouldn’t think twice about giving it all to her, to get her back on her feet again. But unfortunately, this is not the case. She is very vulnerable at the moment and this is all I can think of that would begin her healing quicker.

I am looking to raise some money so that my daughter can receive the treatment she needs right away AND try to get her life back on track at least in some way. Although going private is the more expensive route, I truly don’t believe that she is in any state to wait another few months before any help is made available to her. To see how she is suffering right now is enough to tell me this.

My daughter needs to be given a form of therapy called Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, which  will help her to understand her emotions and her reactions far better, and will give her better control of her own life and in dealing with situations that might arise that she finds difficult. The money raised will go on paying for an initial assessment and an intensive 16 week course, including weekly travelling costs for her to attend each session.

If you are able to spare any amount at all to help me in making this happen, I would be forever grateful. However, if for whatever reason you can’t, if you’re at least able to share this as far and wide as you can your help would be invaluable.

Any money that is raised will go directly on her treatment, and any extra funds that come about through this fundraiser will be used to help her get herself back on her feet again.

I hope you can understand where I am right now in terms of my desperation as a father, and I cannot thank anyone enough if they’re able to help in any way at all, no matter how small or big.
